Miami stays red-hot, makes another move up team recruiting rankings

The Miami Hurricanes' recruiting momentum is undeniable. This spring, the program has been on a tear, securing high-profile commitments that are reshaping their future. The latest addition? Four-star interior offensive lineman Sean Tatum from Port Saint Lucie, Florida, who publicly pledged to The U on Friday.

Tatum's commitment is a significant win for head coach Mario Cristobal, a renowned offensive line developer. Choosing Miami over Florida, Tennessee, and others, Tatum cited the program's culture, offensive scheme, and the specific "o-line love" under Cristobal's leadership as key factors in his decision.

This move has tangible consequences in the national rankings. Tatum's pledge propelled Miami up two spots, from No. 9 to No. 7, in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, leapfrogging powerhouses like Oregon and Notre Dame. As of April 10, the Hurricanes' 2025 class now boasts nine total commits.

The class is heavily focused on locking down in-state talent, with eight of the nine commits hailing from Florida. Tatum joins three-star offensive lineman Zaquan Linton to fortify the trenches. The headliner remains four-star wide receiver Nick Lennear, who could finish the cycle as a five-star recruit and is currently the class's top-rated prospect.

Perhaps the most electrifying piece of this recruiting puzzle came just last week. Miami secured its first out-of-state commit of the cycle in a major way: four-star quarterback Israel Abrams from Illinois. Abrams, the nation's No. 3 QB, called Miami a "dream school" and expressed excitement about following in the footsteps of recent standout Hurricanes signal-callers. With a dynamic QB and a bolstered offensive line now in the fold, the future in Coral Gables looks exceptionally bright.
