The Miami RedHawks have made a significant addition to their roster, securing a commitment from 6-foot-9 forward Preston Copeland via the transfer portal. Copeland arrives from MAC foe Ball State, bringing size and potential to Oxford.

As a freshman for the Cardinals, Copeland showed flashes of promise, starting 24 of his 30 appearances. He averaged 4.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game while showcasing impressive efficiency, shooting a stellar 62.5% from the field.

His season highlights included an 18-point outing against Earlham and a 10-rebound performance against Ohio. While he was held scoreless in his lone game against Miami last December, he contributed with rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 15 minutes of action.

This move addresses a key need for the RedHawks, adding much-needed length and interior presence. For a young player with his size and shooting touch, Copeland represents a high-upside acquisition who could develop into a major factor in the MAC under head coach Travis Steele.
