Sean Tatum, a massive 6-foot-4, 320-pound interior offensive lineman from John Carroll Catholic High School in Fort Pierce, has officially committed to the 'Canes for the 2027 class, shutting down his recruitment entirely.

Tatum chose Miami over a host of powerhouse programs, including Florida, Tennessee, and Auburn. For the highly-touted prospect, the decision came down to relationships and development. "They offered me when I was a freshman and have been recruiting me ever since. They never slowed down," Tatum said, crediting the entire staff, particularly offensive line coach Alex Mirabal.

Mirabal's reputation as an elite developer of talent was a major factor. Known for producing award-winners and NFL draft picks, Mirabal's track record gave Tatum the confidence to cancel all his upcoming official visits. "Why would I not want to get developed by the best offensive line coach in America?" Tatum remarked.

This commitment is another sign of Miami's surging recruiting prowess, fueled by last season's run to the national championship. Tatum, a composite four-star recruit ranked as the No. 10 interior offensive lineman in the nation, becomes the fifth four-star or higher prospect to pledge to head coach Mario Cristobal this cycle. The class is heavily focused on in-state talent, with seven of eight commits hailing from Florida, including five-star receiver Nick Lennear.

"Of course that run mattered a lot," Tatum said of Miami's recent success. For Hurricanes fans, this commitment is a powerful statement that the program is not just competing for titles on the field, but is also winning the crucial battles in living rooms across the country, building a foundation for future dominance in the trenches.
