The Miami Hurricanes' 2027 recruiting class just got a whole lot stronger. Rivals300 offensive lineman Sean Tatum, a four-star powerhouse from Port Saint Lucie, has officially committed to play for Mario Cristobal in Coral Gables.

This is a major win for the 'Canes, who secured Tatum's pledge over fierce competition from in-state rival Florida, Tennessee, and several other top programs. Tatum isn't just any recruit; he's ranked as the No. 9 interior offensive lineman and the No. 145 overall prospect nationally by Rivals, making him one of the most coveted targets in his class.

For a program built on a legacy of dominant trench play, landing a lineman of Tatum's caliber is a perfect fit. He cited Miami's proven player development, offensive system, and the strong culture under Cristobal—a noted offensive line guru—as key factors in his decision. "Cristobal is an o-line guy so he will always show linemen love," Tatum noted, highlighting the appeal of playing for a coach who prioritizes the trenches.

Tatum's commitment, the ninth for Miami's 2027 cycle, bolsters a class that was already ranked No. 9 nationally by Rivals. He joins fellow offensive line commit Zaquan Linton, signaling a clear intent to rebuild a formidable front.

Scouting reports back up the hype. After watching him dominate at the Rivals Camp in Miami, Rivals Director of Scouting Charles Power praised Tatum as the top offensive lineman in one-on-one drills. Power highlighted his impressive 6-foot-3.5, 310-pound frame, "barrel-chested build," powerful punch, and proficient footwork—all essential traits for controlling the line of scrimmage.

For Hurricanes fans, this commitment is a statement. It’s about securing top-tier, homegrown talent and reinforcing the foundation of the team in the trenches, where games are often won and lost.
