Eastern Washington University is set to honor its athletic legends this fall, announcing a star-studded 2026 Hall of Fame class headlined by a legendary football connection and the iconic team they led.

The ceremony on October 10 will enshrine quarterback Erik Meyer and wide receiver Eric Kimble, the dynamic duo who powered the celebrated 2004 Eagles football team—a squad that will also be inducted as a unit.

Meyer, the 2005 Walter Payton Award winner as the top player in the FCS, rewrote the record books in Cheney. A two-time All-American, he finished his career with over 10,000 passing yards and 84 touchdowns, setting an FCS record for quarterback efficiency. His professional success continued close to home, where he earned Arena Football League MVP honors with the Spokane Shock in 2013.

His primary target, Eric Kimble, was a touchdown machine. A unanimous All-American, his 46 career receiving touchdowns placed him second in FCS history at the time, trailing only the legendary Jerry Rice. Kimble shattered Big Sky Conference records, amassing 4,140 receiving yards and leaving EWU with 13 school records to his name.

Together, they spearheaded the 2004 team to a 9-4 record, a share of the Big Sky title, and a run to the FCS quarterfinals. That squad, coached by Paul Wulff, was a powerhouse featuring five All-Americans and delivering the program's first-ever home playoff game.

They will be joined by four other Eagle greats: record-shattering running back Jesse Chatman (1998-2001), men's basketball coach Steve Aggers (1995-2000), track and field standout Nancy Kuiper (1990-91), and women's basketball guard Nancy Sugarman (Taucher) (1988-92). This class represents the very best of Eastern Washington athletics, celebrating individual brilliance and unforgettable team success.
