The New York Mets are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to bolster organizational depth, and this time, they didn't have to look far. The team has signed infielder Nick Roselli from the Long Island Ducks, a move that brings a familiar face back into the fold.
Roselli, 23, has been plying his trade in the Atlantic League—widely considered the top independent league in professional baseball. The news was announced by Ducks president Michael Pfaff, who noted that Roselli is the fourth member of the 2026 Ducks squad to have his contract purchased by an MLB organization.
While Roselli may not be a household name, he's no stranger to the Mets' system. He previously spent time in their minor league ranks and even participated in Spring Training with the big league club earlier this year. That means his departure from affiliated ball was brief, and the Mets clearly saw enough potential to bring him back for another look.
Last season, Roselli's numbers were modest: he hit .233 at Single-A St. Lucie and .136 at High-A Brooklyn. But at 23, he still has time to develop, and his versatility is a key asset—he can play both infield and outfield. Originally an 11th-round pick out of SUNY Binghamton in 2024, Roselli is very much on the fringes of the organization, but the Mets are betting on his upside.
For Roselli, this is a second chance to prove he belongs. If he can improve on last season's production, he could work his way up the ladder and potentially contribute at higher levels. In a game where every at-bat counts, the Mets are hoping this local talent can turn opportunity into impact.
