A quick review of how the Mets’ pitchers fared in the past couple of weeks.

The past two weeks have been a rollercoaster for the Mets' pitching staff, and while the injury bug hasn't hit as hard as it could have, finding reliable arms beyond the top of the rotation has been a challenge. Clay Holmes continues to dazzle on the mound, while Freddy Peralta and Nolan McLean have held things together for the most part. But the same can't be said for Kodai Senga, David Peterson, and Sean Manaea, who have all struggled to find their rhythm. Senga's woes were so pronounced that he was likely on the verge of losing his spot in the rotation before landing on the injured list with lumbar spinal inflammation—a move that saved him from a less-than-flattering grade and possibly another minor league stint.

Enter Christian Scott, who made his return to the big leagues after missing all of 2025 due to Tommy John surgery. His first start back was a nightmare: he walked five batters in just 1 1/3 innings against the Twins. Manager Carlos Mendoza wasted no time pulling the plug, knowing the Mets needed to stay within striking distance. Somehow, Scott escaped with only one run allowed—a small miracle in itself. But he bounced back in a big way during his next outing in Anaheim. Despite a costly mistake to Jorge Soler and some shaky defense behind him, Scott turned in five innings of three-run ball (two earned), striking out eight batters without issuing a single walk. It was a complete 180 from his debut and a promising sign for the Mets' rotation depth.

The bullpen, meanwhile, has been a mixed bag but is trending in the right direction. Tobias Myers continues to deliver consistent quality in long relief, and Carl Edwards Jr. has joined him in that role with solid results. Brooks Raley remains outstanding, providing a reliable bridge to the late innings. Luke Weaver and Devin Williams have had their share of hiccups over the past two weeks, but they've still managed to turn in more good outings than bad ones. On Friday, the bullpen was perfect in relief of Scott, setting the stage for a thrilling comeback victory—with Huascar Brazobán earning the win. If the Mets can keep this momentum going, they might just find the stability they've been searching for.
