TCU's backcourt just got a major boost for the upcoming season. Redshirt junior guard Tanner Toolson announced via social media on Friday that he will return to the Horned Frogs for the 2026-27 campaign, utilizing his final year of collegiate eligibility.
The 6-foot-5 guard from Vancouver, Washington, provided valuable depth in his first season in Fort Worth, averaging 7.7 points and 3.2 rebounds while appearing in 35 games. His experience was a key factor in TCU's successful 23-12 season, which culminated in a trip to the NCAA Tournament's second round.
Toolson's journey to this point has been defined by perseverance. After beginning his career at BYU, he transferred to Utah Valley, where he started 65 games over two seasons, before finding his fit with the Horned Frogs. His decision to return provides crucial continuity for a program looking to build on its recent success.
He becomes the fourth key piece from last year's squad to commit to returning, joining junior guard Brock Harding, sophomore forward Micah Robinson, and junior forward Xavier Edmonds. This core group gives Head Coach Jamie Dixon a solid foundation as he looks to navigate the competitive Big 12 conference and make another deep March run.
