The 2026 NFL Draft concluded on Saturday, and the New England Patriots emerged with nine new players after the three-day event.

Although the Patriots made some puzzling choices, such as selecting Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu in the first round instead of opting for a pass rusher who could contribute this season, ESPN's draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. still gave New England a solid "B" grade for its overall draft performance.

"I thought New England might seek out the K'Lavon Chaisson replacement in Round 1, but the team went back to the offensive line well for a second straight year, taking Caleb Lomu at No," Kiper wrote on Sunday. "28 after a slight trade up. Lomu was a top-25 player for me, and he's very consistent as both a pass protector and run blocker. Patriots fans will likely want to know his arm length -- it's 33⅜ inches, much more in line with standards at the position.

"But Lomu also brings quick feet, which helps him adjust on the fly and keep speed rushers from reaching the corner. I'd like to see him fill out his 6-foot-6, 313-pound frame a little more, but the upside is there."

After drafting Lomu, New England made eight additional picks. The Patriots selected Illinois pass rusher Gabe Jacas in the second round, Notre Dame tight end Eli Raridon in the third round and Wake Forest cornerback Karon Prunty in the fifth round. New England also added two sixth-round picks: Texas A&M offensive tackle Dametrious Crownover and TCU linebacker Namdi Obiazor. Additionally, it brought in three third-round players: Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton, Alabama running back Jam Miller and Boston College pass rusher Quintayvious Hutchins.
