In a significant squad shake-up at The Den, Millwall have confirmed the departure of four first-team players as their contracts expire this summer. The most notable exit is that of long-serving full-back Dan McNamara, who will bring an end to his 12-year association with the Lions.
McNamara, now 27, first signed with Millwall as an 18-year-old and went on to make 166 appearances for the club, scoring two goals. However, a frustrating injury-hit campaign limited him to just 16 Championship outings this season. The Lions ultimately finished third in the table before suffering play-off semi-final heartbreak against Hull City.
Joining McNamara on the way out are defenders Joe Bryan and Wes Harding, along with midfielder Massimo Luongo. Bryan, 32, arrived from Fulham in 2023 but managed only six league starts this term. Harding, 29, spent the second half of the season on loan at Plymouth Argyle in League One. Meanwhile, Luongo, 33, saw his campaign cut short by a serious knee injury in October, having made just nine league appearances.
On a brighter note, Millwall are actively working to secure the futures of some key personnel. The club has confirmed ongoing contract talks with midfielder Billy Mitchell and goalkeepers Joel Coleman and Ronnie Sandford. Additionally, the Lions have exercised options to extend the deals of midfielders Casper De Norre and Ryan Leonard for another 12 months, providing some much-needed stability as they look to rebuild for another promotion push.
