Connor McDavid made headlines during the Stanley Cup Playoffs due to his health status in the Edmonton Oilers first round series against the Anaheim Ducks.
With the Oilers down 3-1 to the Ducks, an injury scare involving McDavid missing Tuesday's morning skate ahead of Game 5 was the worst case scenario for Edmonton fans. However, McDavid ended up playing in Game 5 — a 4-1 win for the Oilers — and had two points in the contest to boot! In TNT's postgame interview with McDavid, the captain even said he was "never close" to not playing in Tuesday night's game.
While that's all well and good, NHL fans didn't latch on to McDavid's answer. Instead, hockey fans were bemused with TNT analyst Anson Carter's jokes about McDavid, which included the phrase "McJesus, it's Ace".

"McJesus" is a pretty well known nickname for McDavid, but Tuesday night wasn't the first instance of Carter's hilarious phrase. He previously said it to McDavid in a postgame interview in early April, but now hockey fans have latched onto the phrase and turned it into an incredible meme.
