Kilmarnock boss Neil McCann is brimming with confidence as his side prepares for a crucial Premiership clash against Dundee on Tuesday night. Fresh off a massive weekend victory over St Mirren, the Killie manager knows that two more positive results could seal their top-flight status—and he's eager to get the job done as soon as possible.
"We'd like to do it against Dundee," McCann said, acknowledging the challenge ahead. "But it's going to be tough. That performance on Saturday was magnificent, especially in such a high-pressure situation. It's given the whole squad a real boost."
One player earning special praise is on-loan Rangers winger Finlay Curtis, who has been turning heads with his performances. McCann described his impact as "a remarkable job," though he stopped short of confirming whether Curtis could return to Rugby Park next season. "He's the type of player we'd love to have in the longer term," McCann admitted. "But unfortunately, we're not in the box seat to decide that."
McCann also revealed that Curtis is reportedly in Scotland's 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup—a testament to his rapid development. "I would love to see him there, of course. We'd all at this football club take a lot of pride in that if he makes the World Cup squad," he added.
Looking ahead to Tuesday's opponents, McCann believes Dundee may rotate their squad and field some fringe players. He tipped his hat to Dundee boss Steven Pressley, saying, "He's done a brilliant job, especially considering he was under fire at the start of the season."
Despite the temptation to look ahead, McCann is keeping his focus firmly on the present. "I'm not planning for next season just yet," he insisted. "We need to get the job done on Tuesday first."
On the injury front, there's good news for Kilmarnock fans: Brad Lyons and Jack Thomson are back in contention for selection. Goalkeeper Kelle Roos has returned to training but is unlikely to feature against Dundee.
