Oli McBurnie has issued a rallying cry to his Hull City teammates, urging them to seize their chance and secure a coveted Championship play-off spot. The Tigers' promotion push hit a bump with a late 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United, a result that has seen their form stutter at the worst possible time with just four wins in their last thirteen league outings.

Despite the recent setback, McBurnie emphasized the need for perspective. He reminded everyone that after narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day last season, Hull's current position is a significant achievement. The club sits sixth, holding the final play-off place with a four-point cushion and only four games remaining, meaning their destiny is firmly in their own hands.

"If you'd offered any of the fans or any of the players at the start of the season that they'd be in this position with four games to go, they would have snapped your hand off," McBurnie told BBC Radio Humberside. He credited the squad's hard work for their standing, stating, "We've put ourselves in a great position this year, and that's not through luck."

The Scottish international, who leads Hull's scoring charts with 15 goals this campaign, also pinpointed an area for improvement. He noted that while the team has been solid defensively, they need to rediscover their creative spark in the final third after scoring only twice in the last three matches. With the finish line in sight, McBurnie's message is clear: dust off the disappointment and finish the job they started.
