Max Verstappen has made a stunning start to his debut at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, leaving fellow drivers in awe as the four-time Formula 1 world champion adapts to the legendary endurance race with remarkable ease.

The 28-year-old, piloting a Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 alongside Lucas Auer, Daniel Juncadella, and Jules Gounon, has already turned heads with his pace and composure in the "Green Hell." On Thursday, he clocked the third-fastest lap time at 8m18.539s, setting the stage for Friday's qualifying sessions.

Qualifying for the top category is a grueling three-part affair—TQ1, TQ2, and TQ3—with each team nominating a different driver for each session. Auer kicked things off for the #3 Mercedes, finishing fifth in TQ1 to secure a spot in TQ2. Then it was Verstappen's turn, and the Dutchman delivered under pressure. He grabbed sixth place with a lap just 1.129 seconds off the pace-setting Audi of Nick Yelloly, surviving a late scare as he slipped from first to that position. But for Verstappen, it was all about moving forward—not the margin.

"I felt comfortable in the car because we were targeting to get to the top qualifying three, which of course is not easy with the competition out there," Verstappen said. "It's super tough, a lot of fast cars around, but we just managed to sneak in. So the final lap was just good enough and it was nice."

That progression paved the way for Juncadella to take the wheel in TQ3 and secure a fourth-place starting position for Saturday's race, just behind a Lamborghini 1-2 and an Audi in third. The result is a testament to the team's seamless coordination and Verstappen's rapid adaptation to the demanding Nordschleife circuit.

For Verstappen, the experience has been a baptism by fire—literally. "Luckily it was dry, the car felt all right and we managed to sneak in. So that was the target," he explained. "Yesterday, a lot of changing conditions and for me the first time in the night. Probably the worst possible conditions with the rain, the fog coming in. But at least I got a good first idea of what to expect potentially in the race as well. So that was good."

The Nürburgring 24 Hours has long been on Verstappen's radar, filling the gap between the Miami Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix (May 22-24). And true to his reputation, he's taking it as seriously as any Formula 1 weekend. With his grid position locked in and confidence building, all eyes will be on the #3 Mercedes as the green flag drops for what promises to be an epic endurance battle.
