Holzer vs. Adesanya: What happened after the fight was over Max Holzer kept his winning run going in 2025, and a moment after the final bell had everyone talking.

Max Holzer kept his winning streak alive in 2025, but it was what happened after the final bell that truly stole the spotlight. The undefeated fighter has been making waves, and a controversial celebration reminiscent of Israel Adesanya's infamous moment has changed everything for him.

For those who remember, when Adesanya finished Paulo Costa in 2020, he stood over his opponent and mimed a thrusting motion that sparked widespread debate. Holzer took that same energy and pushed it even further after his submission win at OKTAGON 69. The young fighter celebrated by kissing Deniz Ilbay on the back of the head and recreating Adesanya's gesture—a move that sent Ilbay chasing him out of the cage.

Now, with his return at OKTAGON 88 on May 16 approaching, Holzer opened up to Bloody Elbow about the aftermath. "When I go outside, I have to take pictures with people all day, but it's no problem," he said. "I'm very grateful for all my fans, for all my supporters and even for the people who hate me because they're also watching. It's more pressure, I had to deal with it first, but I've had one year to really try to focus on myself."

While Holzer doesn't regret the moment—feeling justified by comments from Ilbay's team—he admits he'd rather be known for his skills inside the cage. "It's nothing I can complain about because many fans are not professional fighters. So, of course, they don't remember you for this and that. But, at the end of the day, I want to be also a great fighter and push my career with performances."

Now, the 24-year-old undefeated prospect faces another heated clash, this time against former UFC fighter Khalid Taha. Taha had previously criticized Holzer when their initial fight was canceled last September, adding more fuel to an already fiery rivalry. With tensions high and eyes on him, Holzer is ready to prove he's more than just a viral moment—he's a fighter to watch.
