Max Holloway is keeping fans guessing about a potential showdown with Conor McGregor at UFC 329, but even "Blessed" doesn't seem to have all the answers yet.
The MMA world has been buzzing with rumors of a rematch between Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC) and McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC), who hasn't stepped into the Octagon since 2021. McGregor has been fueling the fire with training videos showing a focused and hungry fighter, while Holloway has been quietly preparing for what could be the biggest fight of his career.
These two first met back in 2013 as featherweights, with McGregor taking a unanimous decision victory. Now, over a decade later, Holloway is eyeing redemption. "It's just, it sucks because, of course, you don't have nothing signed," Holloway told UFC on Paramount+. "So training camp looks like a regular training camp without a contract. My head space is still straight. I know when I fight. We kind of know where we want to fight, why we want to fight."
The Hawaiian star is eager to settle the score: "We have history. We fought a very long time ago. I would love to get him back. With him having all this talk of coming back and everybody talking about how serious he looks like he's training... it's exciting. He looks super hungry. I would just like to get one back. I know it's a huge fight. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge, but having history with the dude, being able to get one back would be cool."
The rumored target for McGregor's return is UFC 329 on July 11 during International Fight Week. For Holloway, this would be a chance to bounce back after losing the BMF title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326, where he was outgrappled for five rounds. "Maybe, we'll see what happens," Holloway said of fighting at UFC 329. "I'm seeing all the talk that you guys see. I didn't really hear anything yet, but that wouldn't be a bad time. You're only as good as your last fight, they say, and we're going to get everybody forgetting about that last fight as soon as possible."
For now, fans will have to wait and see if this blockbuster rematch becomes a reality. But with both fighters hungry and the stakes higher than ever, UFC 329 could be the stage for one of the most anticipated comebacks in MMA history.
