Max Holloway admits he’d love to get one back on Conor McGregor in a potential rematch

Max Holloway is ready to settle an old score. The former featherweight champion has been linked to a potential rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 329 on July 11, and he's not shying away from the possibility.

Rumors have been swirling that Holloway could be the comeback opponent for McGregor, who hasn't fought since breaking his leg in the trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier in 2021. UFC 329, set to cap off International Fight Week at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, still lacks a main event—and the buzz around a Holloway-McGregor showdown is growing louder.

For Holloway, the appeal goes beyond the spotlight. It's personal. The two first met back in 2013, with McGregor taking a decision win. Now, Holloway sees a chance to even the score. "We have history," Holloway told Paramount. "If somebody's got one over me, I want to get him back. I'd love to get him back."

Holloway has been watching McGregor's recent moves closely, noting a renewed hunger in the Irish star. "He looks super hungry. He just did a boxing exhibition not too long ago, so that was pretty cool to see. I would just like to get one back. It's a huge fight. Anything with Conor McGregor is huge, but having history with the dude—being able to get one back would be cool."

The timing couldn't be better for Holloway, who is eager to bounce back after a tough loss to Charles Oliveira in his last outing—a fight that cost him the "BMF" title. That defeat left a bitter taste, and Holloway sees McGregor as the perfect opponent to wash it away. "I've got to get my get backs on one of the guys. If I can keep knocking down the list, that would be great," he said.

But for now, Holloway is waiting. He says the UFC hasn't sent a formal contract yet, though he's clearly ready to sign. With McGregor's return generating massive buzz and Holloway's desire for redemption, this is a fight that writes itself—and one that could headline the biggest card of the summer.
