Painter continues to bring in reinforcements.

Matt Painter is at it again. The Purdue head coach has been hearing the same tired narrative for over a decade: "Just wait until [insert star player] is gone, and Purdue will finally fall back to Earth." They said it about the Baby Boilers, about Biggie, about Carsen Edwards, about Jaden Ivey, and even about Zach Edey, Braden Smith, Trey Kaufman-Renn, and Fletcher Loyer. And almost every single time, they've been wrong. As Painter has matured as a coach, his recruiting has only gotten stronger—and today's news proves it.

Purdue men's basketball has landed a commitment from Isaiah Hill, a blue-chip center in the class of 2027. Depending on the recruiting service, Hill is rated as either a four-star or five-star prospect. On3 and Rivals list him as a four-star, but ESPN has him as a five-star recruit—ranked 8th overall in the nation. ESPN also tabs him as the best player in the state of Indiana, the best in the region, and the top center in his class. That makes Hill the highest-rated recruit of the Matt Painter era and the highest-ranked Purdue commit since ESPN began its recruiting rankings back in 2007. That's nearly two decades of elite Boilermaker talent, and Hill sits above them all.

Of course, a high ranking doesn't guarantee a Zach Edey-like career, but it does tell you the tools are there. At 7'0" and 218 pounds, Hill has the size and skill set to develop into a dominant force in the paint. Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana (not Annapolis), he's keeping the in-state pipeline strong. This is a massive win for Painter and a clear signal that Purdue's recruiting momentum is only building. The future in West Lafayette is looking brighter than ever.
