Matt Fitzpatrick will be looking to make it win number four of the 2026 PGA Tour season at the Truist Championship this week. Fitzpatrick has been one of the standout players on the PGA Tour this season, with three wins to his name already.

Matt Fitzpatrick is riding high on confidence as he sets his sights on a remarkable fourth PGA Tour victory of the 2026 season at this week's Truist Championship. The Englishman has been nothing short of sensational, already notching three wins and establishing himself as one of the tour's elite competitors.

But as the 32-year-old arrives at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina, he's been taken aback by one thing: the course conditions. "I'm really kind of shocked at how firm the greens are right now," Fitzpatrick admitted during his Tuesday press conference. "Compared to last year's PGA Championship here, the greens were softer and the rough was higher. This week it's the opposite—the greens are very, very firm, and the rough is a little shorter. It's definitely going to make it a great test."

For a player who has evolved significantly in recent years, these firm-and-fast conditions might actually play to his strengths. Fitzpatrick's iron play has reached new heights, and his ability to stay clutch under pressure has become his trademark. "Whenever he gets in position to win, he doesn't seem fazed by the occasion one little bit," observers note. His driving accuracy and approach shots have been exceptional, making Quail Hollow's demanding layout a potentially perfect fit.

That said, Fitzpatrick isn't pretending to be a course expert. "I'll be honest, I don't really feel like I know this golf course that well," he said, referencing his limited history here—including a 2017 PGA Championship appearance that he calls "a complete blur." His best finish at Quail Hollow in a PGA Tour event was a tie for 35th in 2023, but he did manage a tie for eighth in last year's PGA Championship here.

Now, as a completely different player—more seasoned, more composed, and with a game that's firing on all cylinders—Fitzpatrick looks ready to contend once again. With firm greens, shorter rough, and a player who thrives on precision, this week's Truist Championship could be another showcase for the Englishman's growing legacy.
