Matisse Thybulle is facing an uncertain future as he prepares for unrestricted free agency, and the defensive specialist is keeping an open mind about what lies ahead.
"I don't have expectations. I don't really know how the whole proper free agency thing goes," Thybulle admitted. "I was a restricted free agent before, but this is very different. Expectations? Don't have any, don't know what to expect."
While the 27-year-old wing may be navigating unfamiliar territory, his heart remains with his current squad. Known for his elite perimeter defense and disruptive steals, Thybulle has carved out a unique role in the league—one that any contending team would value. But for him, it's about more than just the game.
"I would love to be a part of this team again," he said. "Like I said, great group with a lot of potential. Good people."
Thybulle, who has developed a reputation as a fan favorite for his high-energy play and humble demeanor, emphasized the special chemistry in the locker room. He noted that he's shared perspective with teammates who've experienced other franchises, and the message is clear: this group is different.
"I don't know if everyone on this team fully realizes how good of a group we really have, because you can get a couple bad eggs that spoil it for everyone," Thybulle explained. "But we don't have anything close to that. And just the level of care and just the quality of character we have in our locker room is something that's really nice to be a part of."
As the offseason approaches, Thybulle's versatility and defensive tenacity will undoubtedly draw interest from teams across the league. But for now, he's focused on one thing: continuing to grow with the team that's become his home.
"Me personally, I would love to be here and continue growing with this team," he said. "But, like I said, no expectations."
