In a season full of twists and turns at Old Trafford, one name has emerged as a beacon of hope: Michael Carrick. After stepping into the interim managerial role, the former United midfielder has transformed the squad, and now Wolves winger Matheus Cunha has added his voice to the growing chorus calling for Carrick to be named the permanent boss.

"What he's done is amazing," Cunha said after scoring the opening goal in United's thrilling 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday. "He's full of confidence in the group, and how he teaches everyone is incredible. I think he has the magic of the Ferguson era. He brings that to us, teaches us what it was like to be part of something special. Of course, I think he deserves the job."

The victory over Liverpool was more than just a statement win—it secured United's place in next season's Champions League and extended their remarkable record under Carrick to 10 wins and just two defeats in 14 games. While the club is expected to make a final decision on Ruben Amorim's permanent successor at the end of the season, Carrick's players are making their feelings known.

Cunha, who has developed a knack for scoring in big matches—having also found the net against Arsenal and Chelsea this season—believes United's return to Europe's elite competition is a win for everyone. "The Champions League without this club is not the same competition," he said. "And this club without the Champions League is not the same club. There were a lot of doubts about how we'd come back, but I'm so happy to be part of this."

For the Brazilian winger, these high-stakes games are what he lives for. "My friends always bet on me to score in these kinds of matches," he laughed. "They say, 'I need to bet on you because you love this.' I tell them, 'Please don't bet!' But honestly, I feel so happy to be an important player in these moments."

As United prepare for their return to the Champions League spotlight, the question remains: will Carrick be the one leading them out? If the players' support is any indication, the answer might already be written in the stars.
