UFC Vegas 116 went own last night (Sat., April 25, 2026) inside Meta Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Aljamain Sterling dominate Youssef Zalal to earn a clear-cut unanimous decision. In the co-main event of the evening, Joselyn Edwards stunned Norma Dumont after the judges awarded her a unanimous decision victory over the No. 3 ranked fighter in the women’s Bantamweight division.
Sterling improved to 3-1 as a Featherweight contender following his big win over Zalal, and for “Funkmaster,” it was a much-needed win for his hopes of getting into the championship picture at 145 pounds. That said, I just don’t think he did enough to leapfrog Movsar Evloev to be the one to face division king, Alexander Volkanovski. Nevertheless, its a huge win and one more like that could be the one that puts him back in the big dance. The division is wide open, so he is in line for a big title eliminator fight next.
Garcia secured one of the biggest wins of his career by defeating Alexander Hernandez and stopping his momentum and win streak at four, all while securing his third straight win. Garcia is now 7-4 inside the Octagon but this could be the victory that really puts the division on notice and gets him closer to a spot in the Top 15. As for Spann, he put the Heavyweight division on notice thanks to his blistering knockout performance over Marcus Buchecha in the second round of their opening main card bout (highlights). Spann has now won two straight after stumbling out of the gates in his first fight in the weight class. “Superman” has all the looks of being a potential threat to anyone in the division, but it’s going to take him a bit before he can start sniffing the Top 15. But since the division is pretty weak, he could get there in no time.
The best way to crack the Top 10 is to beat a high-ranked foe, and that is just what Edwards did last night in “Sin City” after she defeated the No. 3-ranked fighter in the division in Norma Dumont, snapping her six-fight win streak. Edwards has now won five straight and could leap a lot of people and enter the Top 5 come next week, which means her own case for a title shot could be a few more wins away.
Coming into the event, Silva was our fighter who needed a win the most. But the former title contender couldn’t snap her cold streak against Michelle Montague and went on to lose her fifth straight, extending her win-less streak to six fights dating back to mid-2023. There is no telling what the promotion intends to do with the struggling Brazilian slugger, but this is one of the worse downfalls of a former title contender that we’ve seen in a while. As for Dumont, losing to Edwards is detrimental for her hopes of sneaking into a title fight because she will now lose her No. 3 spot in the division after seeing her six-fight win streak go up in smoke.
