Maryland football has been one of the best programs at producing NFL draft picks in recent years, and the program has gotten off the board with the final selection of Day 2.
The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted former Terp Jalen Huskey with the 100th pick, adding to a secondary that features star cornerback Travis Hunter and little else and struggled during the 2025 season.

Huskey played two seasons at Maryland after transferring in from Bowling Green. He began his career with the Terps spending all his time at cornerback, but he slowly transitioned to a part-time safety by the end of the 2024 season, and by 2025, he was Maryland’s full-time starter in the box.
While Maryland posted back-to-back 4-8 seasons, Huskey’s personal improvement was remarkable. He earned second-team All Big Ten honors with the Terps in 2025 after logging 72 tackles, two pass breakups and four interceptions. He was one of the cornerstone pieces for a Terps secondary that recorded 19 interceptions, the sixth-most in college football.
Huskey was taken far earlier than expected — he was ESPN’s 228th-ranked draft pick. But that signals the Jaguars believe he’ll have an important role to play in the future of their franchise.
The NFL draft continues with its third and final day on Saturday. The picks will begin at noon.
