Defending MotoGP champion Marc Marquez has been sidelined from competition after a dramatic crash during Saturday's sprint race at the French Grand Prix. The Ducati star will miss the remainder of the Le Mans event and next week's Catalan Grand Prix after fracturing a bone in his right foot.

The incident occurred on the final lap of the sprint when the 33-year-old Spaniard was thrown from his bike. Marquez had placed his right foot down on the track just before the crash, but was flipped over the handlebars as his motorcycle cartwheeled away. Ducati confirmed in a statement that Marquez suffered a "fifth metatarsal fracture in his right foot."

This setback comes at a challenging time for the seven-time world champion, who currently sits fifth in the standings without a single podium finish this season. For a rider of Marquez's caliber—known for his aggressive riding style and incredible comebacks—this injury threatens to derail his championship hopes early in the campaign.

Meanwhile, the sprint race saw Aprilia's Jorge Martin take the win, closing the gap on championship leader Marco Bezzecchi to just six points. Bezzecchi finished third, with Ducati's Francesco Bagnaia splitting the pair in second place. An elated Martin shared his thoughts after the victory: "I love this track. I struggled a bit in qualifying, but I knew my potential was much higher. I didn't expect to be in first position in the second corner, but from that point, I just pushed like in the past, like what I am used to."

As the MotoGP circus moves to Barcelona for the Catalan Grand Prix, all eyes will be on how Marquez's absence reshuffles the championship battle. For fans and riders alike, it's a reminder that in motorsports, fortunes can change in an instant—and that the right gear and preparation are crucial for every race weekend.
