The Miami Marlins' lineup is about to receive a major injection of power. All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers is set to be activated from the injured list on Sunday, finally making his long-awaited 2026 season debut after recovering from a hamstring strain suffered in spring training.
Manager Clayton McCullough confirmed the news before Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, stating that Stowers is "ready to go" after successfully completing his rehab assignment. "Everything from the rehab checked out," McCullough said. "He continued to check the necessary boxes... He came out of that feeling like he’s in a really good spot physically."
Stowers' return is a significant development for a Marlins team that has started the season 9-11 and is looking to climb the NL East standings. The 2025 season was a breakout year for Stowers, who earned his first All-Star selection by blasting 25 home runs and driving in 73 runs over 117 games before an oblique injury cut his campaign short.
His journey to stardom wasn't straightforward. After being drafted by Baltimore, Stowers shuttled between the majors and minors before finding a home in Miami. Although he initially struggled, his dramatic walk-off single on Opening Day 2025 against Paul Skenes and the Pirates signaled a turning point, culminating in his All-Star nod.
Now healthy, Stowers aims to pick up where he left off, providing a crucial boost to a Marlins offense currently ranked in the middle of the pack in runs and RBIs. His return adds a proven, middle-of-the-order bat as Miami looks to build on last season's progress and make a push in a competitive division.
