As the regular season winds down and May arrives, PK Park transforms from a quiet venue into a pressure-packed arena where every pitch matters. Oregon baseball head coach Mark Wasikowski is issuing a direct challenge to the Ducks faithful: bring the noise and help his team secure a critical home series against the USC Trojans.
The stakes couldn't be higher. Oregon is teetering on the NCAA Tournament bubble, and a strong showing against No. 8 RPI-ranked USC could be the push that earns the Ducks a coveted regional host spot in Eugene. This isn't just another series—it's a chance to prove they belong on the big stage.
Wasikowski knows exactly what his team needs, and he's seen the blueprint at Autzen Stadium. "Do what you can to be a difference at PK Park," he said during Wednesday's press conference. "You see it at Autzen Stadium. You see teams come in, and the fans just dominate them. They take it into their own hands. They make sure there are false starts, whatever the penalties are. They make a difference in the game. That's the best thing they can do at PK Park."
While football fans know to roar on third down, baseball requires a different kind of energy. Wasikowski is urging supporters to focus on the moments between plays—when the action pauses and concentration can be broken. "In baseball, those timeouts are the time that you can intimidate an opposing team," he explained. "Those need to be some of the loudest times. During the timeouts should be a point of emphasis for fans. That's actually the time to really rise up and get on somebody. A pitching coach goes to the mound, that type of stuff. That's when you can really make a difference in the outcome of a game."
It's no secret that Oregon fans are among the most passionate in college sports. Now, Wasikowski is calling on them to channel that energy into PK Park, turning every timeout, every mound visit, and every critical at-bat into a moment of intimidation. With a series that could define their postseason hopes, the Ducks need their home crowd to step up and be the game-changer they know they can be.
