The transfer saga surrounding Marcus Rashford is far from over, as Manchester United and FC Barcelona gear up for another round of negotiations next week. According to a fresh report, the two European giants are set to sit down once again to determine the future of the 28-year-old forward, whose loan spell at Camp Nou has been nothing short of spectacular.

Rashford has been a key figure in Barcelona's successful defense of their LaLiga title, tallying an impressive 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. His standout moment came in a crucial 2-0 victory over Real Madrid, where he curled in a stunning free-kick that effectively sealed the championship. Yet, despite his heroics, doubts about his long-term stay in Catalonia continue to swirl.

The season-long loan agreement between the clubs includes a £26 million release clause, which Barcelona can activate before June 15 to make the deal permanent. However, the Blaugrana's financial constraints are well-documented, and with other priorities—such as signing a new No. 9—taking precedence, a rotational winger like Rashford may not be at the top of their shopping list.

Barcelona is well aware that Rashford is eager to remain at Camp Nou, a sentiment echoed by United's hierarchy, who are keen to see him stay put. This has led the Catalans to explore alternative options, hoping to negotiate a cheaper deal rather than honoring the original terms. Whether that means a reduced transfer fee or, more favorably for Barcelona, a second loan with an obligation to buy—allowing them to spread payments—remains unclear.

Manchester United, however, has taken a firm stance: pay up or risk losing out. The Red Devils are prepared to welcome Rashford back if necessary, even if it means navigating a potentially awkward reunion, in order to sell him elsewhere. The Independent reports that the two clubs are "set to reopen negotiations next week" in search of a compromise, but there is a "possibility he returns to United in July."

Should that happen, finding a new buyer won't be quick. The report notes that "the complexities of the situation mean that negotiations could go on some time—potentially to late in the window." The biggest hurdle remains Rashford's hefty wages, which exceed £325,000 a week once Champions League bonuses kick in. While interest from other top clubs exists, his salary package is a significant sticking point for any potential suitor.
