When you step into a dressing room filled with world-class talent, it takes something special to stand out. For Manchester City defender Marc Guehi, that player is none other than club captain Bernardo Silva.
The 25-year-old centre-back, who joined City from Crystal Palace in January, hasn't wasted any time making an impression—but it's Silva who has left him speechless. In just a few months together, Guehi has already placed the Portuguese maestro among the top three teammates he's ever shared a pitch with.
"He's probably one of the best players I've played with, top three for sure," Guehi told the Manchester Evening News. "He's an incredible leader."
What's caught Guehi off guard isn't just Silva's silky footwork or pinpoint passing—it's his voice. "How vocal he is actually surprised me because, with someone with his quality, you just feel like he performs on the pitch and leads with his performances—but he's very vocal. He's really supportive to every single person in the squad."
Silva, 31, is set to end his glorious nine-year stint at the Etihad when his contract expires this June. His departure leaves a massive gap in City's midfield, but also an emotional void for manager Pep Guardiola, who has admitted a part of him is leaving alongside the Portuguese icon.
Since being handed the City armband last summer—following the exits of Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne—Silva has embraced his leadership role. Guehi has witnessed it firsthand, having played alongside him in 15 of his 17 appearances for the Premier League giants.
As Silva prepares to write his final chapter in Manchester, it's clear his impact extends far beyond the pitch. For Guehi and countless teammates, he's not just a world-class talent—he's the kind of leader who makes everyone around him better.
