Toronto has its official numbers.

The NHL Draft Lottery odds are officially set, and for the Toronto Maple Leafs, the numbers carry significant weight. After a tumultuous season, the team's final position has clarified the high-stakes scenario surrounding their first-round pick, which is owed to the Boston Bruins.

This pick was part of the trade that brought defenseman Brandon Carlo to Toronto, with a crucial protection clause: if the selection lands in the top five, the Leafs keep it. If it falls to sixth or later, it heads to Boston. A late-season slide, losing five of their final six games, improved Toronto's odds of retaining that valuable asset.

Toronto now holds the fifth-best lottery odds, translating to an 8.5% chance at the first overall pick and a 24.5% chance of landing exactly in the fifth spot. Crucially, their overall probability of keeping the pick (by landing in the top five) sits at 43.8%, with a 56.2% chance of conveying it to the Bruins.

While still a coin flip, this represents a dramatic improvement from earlier in the season when the odds of losing the pick were far higher. In a deep draft class, securing a top-five talent would provide a major boost to the Leafs' future, while losing the pick would compound the frustrations of a difficult year. All eyes will now be on the lottery to see where the puck—and this pivotal pick—finally lands.
