As Barcelona faces the daunting task of replacing Robert Lewandowski this summer, the Catalan giants are reportedly eyeing a more affordable option from Manchester City. The veteran Polish striker is set to depart, leaving a massive void up front, but financial constraints are forcing the club to rethink their transfer strategy.

Initially, Barcelona had set their sights on Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, but the hefty price tag quickly cooled their interest. They then turned to Joao Pedro, but Chelsea's insistence on a €100m fee has made that deal equally unrealistic. With two top targets slipping away, the Blaugrana are now exploring Plan C.

According to The Daily Briefing, Manchester City are willing to part ways with Omar Marmoush for a fee in the region of €60-65m. The Egyptian forward, who joined City for €75m 18 months ago, has struggled to secure regular game time at the Etihad. While he isn't actively pushing for an exit, Marmoush would be open to a move if an attractive offer comes in.

Barcelona have been linked with Marmoush earlier in the season, and his price tag could be negotiable given his underwhelming stint in Manchester. The 27-year-old still has three years left on his contract, but his lack of productivity—16 goals and six assists in 59 appearances—might work in Barcelona's favor during negotiations. Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have also shown interest, adding competition to the mix.

Marmoush brings versatility to the table, with an ability to link play from midfield, but his scoring record is a far cry from what Barcelona typically demands from their number nine. His profile is a significant departure from Lewandowski or even Joao Pedro, suggesting that manager Hansi Flick may be looking for a more physical presence in attack. Whether Marmoush can be that answer remains to be seen, but at a potential discount, Barcelona might just take a swing.
