Barcelona have reportedly “irritated” Manchester United with their attempts to try and keep Marcus Rashford at the club past the end of the season.

Rashford’s loan deal expires at the end of June and he is keen to continue after posting some strong numbers throughout the 2026-27 campaign.

However, Barcelona don’t want to pay the €30 million buy option in his contract and reports have claimed they have tried to negotiate the price down and have also asked United about the possibility of a second loan.

Those demands don’t appear to have gone down well at Old Trafford, according to a new report.

Barca’s attempts are said to have created “friction” between the two clubs, with the Red Devils “irritated by Barca’s attempts to lowball them in negotiations.”

It’s still not clear what will happen with Rashford but his chances of staying look slim currently due to the costs involved and Barca’s financial situation. As things stand, he is due to return to Manchester when his loan deal expires.
