The Manchester United faithful are making the most of their team's Irish training camp, with supporters gathering early once again at the Carton House Hotel in Maynooth this morning for a chance to see the squad train. The Reds are midway through a three-night stay, designed to sharpen focus for Monday's crucial Premier League clash against Leeds United at Old Trafford and to promote a pre-season friendly against the same opponent scheduled for Dublin in August.
However, that summer fixture faces some uncertainty. Leeds United have informed their fans they will not participate if they are relegated from the Premier League or if they qualify for the Community Shield by winning the FA Cup. Despite this, Manchester United remain committed to the trip, with plans reportedly in place to secure alternative opposition should Leeds be unable to play at Dublin's Croke Park.
Assistant manager Michael Carrick has been leading the sessions on Carton House's excellent pitches, with the squad also enjoying some downtime on the resort's golf course. Carrick emphasized the value of the trip, telling club media, "I think there is a little bit of freshness and a little bit of focus again, of getting everyone back together and spending some time here... Having a bit of lunch and dinner and a few activities where we can have that connection and spirit again between players and staff."
The training camp comes during a significant 24-day break for the squad, their longest pause since a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on March 20th, providing a vital opportunity to recharge and refocus for the final stretch of the season.
