Manchester United have reportedly put Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers at the top of their summer shopping list, with the club ready to accelerate a move that could be worth a staggering £80 million.

The Red Devils are eyeing a return to the Champions League and need just two points from their final five matches to secure their spot. A win against Liverpool this weekend would officially seal qualification, and the club is already planning a squad upgrade to compete on the biggest stage once again.

Rogers, 23, fits the profile United have been targeting under their current recruitment strategy. Following last summer's successful blueprint—which brought in proven Premier League performers like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo—the club is keen to add another established domestic talent to their ranks.

According to Football Muse, internal discussions have already begun over a potential £80 million deal. While United view Rogers primarily as a left-sided option, his homegrown status and ability to play through the middle make him even more attractive. The England international is also being considered as a long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes, who will turn 32 in September and enters the final year of his contract this summer.

Rogers has been a standout performer for Villa this season, notching 12 goals and nine assists across all competitions. His form earned him the PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2024/25, cementing his reputation as one of the Premier League's brightest talents.

However, prising him away from Villa Park won't come cheap—or easy. Aston Villa have faced financial constraints in recent windows, and despite posting a £17 million profit for 2024/25, selling Rogers could provide crucial funds for their own summer rebuild. Signed from Middlesbrough for just £8 million in January 2024, his sale would represent a massive return on investment.

United aren't the only club circling. Chelsea, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich have all been linked with the midfielder, setting the stage for a potentially fierce bidding war this summer.
