The 26-year-old Ghana international took to his Instagram story on Monday, posting a screenshot of abusive comments with the caption "it's started again."

This is sadly not an isolated incident for Semenyo this season. While playing for his former club Bournemouth in the Premier League opener against Liverpool—a match where he scored a brace—he reported being racially abused by a spectator. A 47-year-old man was subsequently charged, with a trial related to that incident scheduled for late April.

Manchester City are providing Semenyo with full support following this latest abuse. His case adds to a distressing pattern in the Premier League this season, which saw four players targeted with racist abuse in a single weekend back in February. Those incidents, involving players from clubs like Chelsea and Wolves, are currently under investigation by the UK Football Policing Unit.

The problem extends beyond the pitch, as evidenced just hours before Semenyo's post, when Sunderland condemned racist abuse aimed at their forward Brian Brobbey on social media. As the football community continues to push for progress, these repeated incidents serve as a stark reminder that the fight for equality and respect in sport is far from over.
