Nabers had to have another surgery.

New York Giants fans, take a deep breath—Malik Nabers' road back to the field just hit a small detour.

The dynamic young wide receiver, who burst onto the scene as a rookie out of LSU in 2024, is still on track to suit up for the 2026 NFL season. But it turns out his recovery required an unexpected pit stop: a second surgery.

Nabers originally underwent ACL and meniscus surgery on October 28 after a season-ending knee injury that cut his 2025 campaign short after just four games. But according to The Athletic's Dan Duggan, the receiver recently had another procedure—this time to clean up "scar tissue that was causing stiffness" in his knee.

The good news? The surgery happened "multiple weeks ago" and was described as a routine "clean up." The Giants remain optimistic that Nabers will be ready for Week 1.

That's critical for a Giants team looking to take a leap forward in quarterback Jaxson Dart's second season. Nabers is the engine of this offense—a game-changer who makes everyone around him better. In his rookie year alone, he hauled in 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. Even in a shortened 2025 season, he managed 18 catches and two scores in just four games.

New York has made moves to bolster the receiving corps, re-signing Darius Slayton, adding Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin in free agency, and drafting Malachi Fields. But there's no replacing what Nabers brings. When he's on the field, the offense clicks—and life gets a whole lot easier for Dart under center.

So while this latest surgery is a bump in the road, it's one the Giants are confident they've cleared. Now, it's all about getting their star receiver back to full health and ready to make plays when it matters most.
