In a fascinating twist that bridges the gap between Bayern Munich's men's and women's teams, star center-back Magdalena Eriksson has taken on an unexpected new role: scout for the men's squad. Currently leading the Frauen to a dominant Bundesliga campaign, the Danish international is now also tracking South American talent for the club's scouting department.
Eriksson recently shared how this unique opportunity came about. "Almost exactly a year ago, I received an email from someone at the club I didn't know," she recalled in comments captured by Viaplay Fotboll. "It turned out to be Bayern Munich's chief scout, Christoph Kresse, asking if I was interested in working in the scouting department."
After six months of intensive learning, Eriksson has grown into the role and now carries significant responsibility. "I scout for the men's team," she explained. "Now that I've become comfortable, I've been given the task of overseeing the South American market. So I'm keeping an eye on South America."
This move highlights Bayern's innovative approach to talent identification, leveraging the expertise of an active player who understands the modern game from the pitch. For a player already leaving her mark with the women's team, Eriksson might just build a lasting legacy with the men's side too—a remarkable crossover in the world of football.
