Manchester United will reportedly demand £25 million to sanction Manuel Ugarte’s exit this summer, two years after they shelled out £42 million for him.

That’s according to Samuel Luckhurst, who adds that the club’s faith in the 25-year-old has been continuously dwindling since last year.

It comes after reports suggested Sir Jim Ratcliffe had personally pushed for Ugarte’s departure following a trip to Carrington in the aftermath of the side’s defeat to Leeds United.

In the game, the Uruguayan had made his first start under Michael Carrick, which only came due to Kobbie Mainoo being injured.

He proceeded to oversee a particularly calamitous display in the middle of the park, to the point Carrick decided to leave him on the bench for the subsequent matches against Chelsea and Brentford, both of which were wins.

In regard to where Ugarte might end up before 2026/2027 gets underway, he has garnered interest from a handful of top teams across Europe.

Ajax registered their interest back in the winter, along with Super Lig leaders, Galatasaray.

He may also have his pick of two Serie A giants, Napoli and Juventus; the former would see him play alongside Scott McTominay, whom he was signed to succeed at Old Trafford in August 2024.

Along with the Montevideo native, Joshua Zirkzee is likely to be sold, while Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund are expected to join Barcelona and Napoli, respectively, upon the culmination of their loan spells.
