LSU head coach Kim Mulkey has secured a major backcourt addition for the upcoming season, signing former Iowa State point guard Jada Williams out of the transfer portal. Williams, an All-Big 12 selection, brings proven playmaking and scoring prowess to Baton Rouge.
In her lone season with the Cyclones, Williams was a statistical standout, averaging 15.3 points per game while leading the entire Big 12 conference with 7.7 assists per contest. She spent the first two years of her collegiate career at Arizona before her breakout season in Ames.
Coach Mulkey highlighted Williams's versatile skill set and leadership, stating, "Jada is a veteran point guard who is more than ready to run the show here in Baton Rouge. She has the ability to create opportunities for teammates but also score at all three levels. Jada plays with an infectious energy that Tiger fans will love."
Beyond her on-court talent, Williams is a significant figure in the modern NIL landscape, ranking among the top earners in women's college basketball. Her substantial social media presence, with nearly 600,000 Instagram followers and over 500,000 on TikTok, underscores her marketability and connection with a new generation of fans.
This move addresses a key need for LSU following the departure of veteran guards and signals the program's intent to remain a national powerhouse. Williams's experience and dynamic style of play will be crucial as the Tigers integrate new talent and aim for another deep postseason run.
