The LSU Tigers are back at Alex Box Stadium tonight with a chance to even the series against No. 20 Florida, and if recent history is any guide, the bats are ready to roar.

LSU has been on an offensive tear in SEC play, scoring eight or more runs in six of their last 10 conference games. But after Thursday night's 11-8 loss in the series opener, head coach Jay Johnson made it clear that the pitching staff needs to catch up to the offense's hot streak.

"You look at it on the surface and you go, 'Great night on offense,'" Johnson said. "Three of those (pitchers) we faced are going to the Major Leagues. We can be better. I think eight runs should win. We're struggling with walks. You have to earn your walks, but we gave them a lot tonight."

With the Tigers sitting at 29-25 overall and 9-19 in SEC play, every game matters as they look to build momentum heading into postseason play. Florida, ranked No. 20, brings a strong 35-18 record and 16-12 conference mark into tonight's matchup.

LSU will counter with freshman Marcos Paz on the mound. The young right-hander has shown flashes of brilliance lately, though he hit a rough patch in his last start at Georgia. He'll face a tough test against Florida's hardest thrower, junior right-hander Liam Peterson.
