BATON ROUGE — LSU baseball's already difficult 2026 season has been dealt another tough blow.
Tigers coach Jay Johnson revealed on his weekly radio show Monday night that junior starting pitcher Cooper Moore has been shut down for the remainder of the season and will need surgery on his arm.
The specifics of Moore's injury were not shared. The news of his injury is another hit for the Tigers (23-18, 6-12 SEC) who have been swept in back-to-back weekends in SEC play at Ole Miss and at home against No. 7 Texas A&M, and has lost three midweek games throughout this year.

The Kansas transfer was in his first season in Baton Rouge and had already been out for the past month with a finger injury on his throwing hand. Moore has not pitched for LSU since March 20 in a 4-2 loss to Oklahoma.
Johnson said Moore will be able to use a medical redshirt for this season and the plan is for the right-hander to return to the Tigers in 2027.
Moore finished the 2026 season with a 3-3 record and a 3.38 ERA, one of the best marks for LSU's pitching staff. In 32 innings pitched, Moore struck out 39 batters while giving up just 12 earned runs.
