Big news out of Baton Rouge as the LSU Tigers prepare for a pivotal weekend series against the Georgia Bulldogs. The latest injury report brings some much-needed optimism for a team hitting its stride at just the right time.

Let's start with the biggest sigh of relief: star freshman Omar Serna is trending toward being available. After missing the midweek game against Tulane with what head coach Jay Johnson described as a back issue, there were real concerns about his status. But it looks like the Tigers' hottest hitter will be in the lineup when they take on the SEC-leading Bulldogs. That's huge, considering Georgia's explosive lineup and hitter-friendly ballpark could turn this series into a slugfest. LSU will need every bit of Serna's bat to keep pace.

On the mound, there's cautious optimism around right-hander Casan Evans, who's been listed as questionable. Evans has missed the last two series after being scratched just before his scheduled start against Ole Miss. Johnson offered a positive update on Thursday but stopped short of committing to a role. For now, the rotation holds steady: Schmidt remains the ace, Marcos Paz gets the nod for Game 2, and if Evans is ready, he'll likely work either Game 3 or out of the bullpen.

The rest of the injury report is a mixed bag. Outfielder Chris Stanfield and first baseman Zach Yorke remain questionable, while Cooper Moore and Jake Brown are out for the season.

All of this comes at a critical juncture for LSU. At 29-21, the Tigers are riding a five-game winning streak, and last weekend's sweep of South Carolina has them back on the NCAA Tournament bubble. But their resume still needs a signature series win. Taking down Georgia—the top team in the SEC—would be exactly the kind of statement that gets LSU back in the conversation.
