Chris Redman's Louisville Kings improved to 3-4 in UFL games with a win over the DC Defenders at Audi Field to boost their standing for the playoffs.

The Louisville Kings just served notice to the entire United Football League: don't count them out yet. In a statement win that had playoff implications written all over it, Chris Redman's squad marched into Audi Field and stunned the first-place DC Defenders, 30-13, on Saturday.

Just two days earlier, Redman told reporters that the gap between his 2-4 team and the defending UFL champions wasn't as wide as the standings suggested. "I think everyone's beatable — and everybody can beat you," he said. "It all depends on how you go out and play and execute."

His players took those words to heart. The Kings ended a two-game losing streak and improved to 3-4, while the Defenders dropped to 5-2. More importantly, Louisville kept their postseason hopes very much alive.

The game turned on a pivotal moment late in the second half. With DC leading 13-3 and just over a minute left, Defenders defensive end Derick Roberson blindsided quarterback Chandler Rogers on a scramble, forcing a fumble. It looked like DC would take over at their own 33-yard line. But the officials flagged Roberson for unnecessary roughness, negating the turnover and giving Louisville the ball in the red zone.

Rogers spent a quick snap in the medical tent, then returned to the field with something to prove. He connected with wideout Tarik Black for a 9-yard touchdown — the team's first since April 26 — and sparked a stunning 27-0 run that completely flipped the game.

"The hit turned me up," Rogers said during a sideline interview with FOX's Jake Butt. "When everybody was oohing, it really pissed me off; I ain't going to lie. I'm playing mad right now."

That fire showed. Rogers completed eight straight passes after getting leveled, finishing the night 17 of 26 for 201 yards and two touchdowns. The Kings defense stepped up in a big way too, forcing four turnovers in the second half — all of which led to points on the scoreboard.

For a team that started the season struggling to find consistency, this win proves that when Louisville executes, they can hang with anyone in the league. As Redman put it, "If we can be consistent, we can be just as good as any team and hold up a trophy at the end of the season."

On Saturday, they looked every bit the part.
