The Atlanta Falcons returned to Flowery Branch for Phase 2 of their offseason program, and all eyes were on quarterback Michael Penix Jr. The former top-10 pick, still working his way back from ACL surgery, was cleared to take the field with his teammates—and he didn't waste any time showing off that arm.
In a video shared by the team, Penix is seen dropping back and airing out a beautiful pass to wide receiver Drake London. The connection between the two young stars is already generating buzz, especially after Penix's promising play before his injury last season.
Penix tore his ACL in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers, but not before completing 13 of 16 passes for 175 yards and leading the Falcons to an early lead. The Panthers eventually rallied to win in overtime, 30-27, but the loss didn't dim the optimism around Penix's potential. He finished his second season with 1,981 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and just three interceptions in nine starts—solid numbers for a quarterback still finding his rhythm.
Now, six months removed from surgery, the former Washington standout is focused on picking up where he left off. Watching him connect with London in practice is a promising sign for Falcons fans eager to see this offense take flight. If Penix can stay healthy, Atlanta's passing game could be a force to be reckoned with in the NFC South.
