LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) — Haynes King is part of East Texas football royalty, playing under his father, John King, and winning a state championship with the Longview Lobos. He then headed to college, overcoming adversity at Texas A&M, and later set records at Georgia Tech.
Longview’s Haynes King wins 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award
Now, he’s getting ready to hear his name called in the NFL draft.
On Tuesday, the Rotary Club of Longview hosted a luncheon at Pinecrest Country Club, honoring King for all his past and future accomplishments on the football field.
Last season at Georgia Tech, he was named the a-c-c player of the year.
He also earned the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, leading the Yellowjackets in rushing, and set a single-season school record for total offense, along with a school career record for completions.
However, beyond what he has been able to accomplish as a quarterback, the main focus of this event was on his character and how he has represented East Texas and his hometown.
The city of Longview and Gregg County officially made April 21st Haynes King Day.
Now we’ll all wait to see what the next stop will be on this lobo’s football journey.
