Before the world's best golfers tee off at this week's Truist Championship, Wednesday's Pro-Am offered a perfect blend of competition and camaraderie—and Charlotte's own sports stars came out to shine.

The Pro-Am format pairs professionals with amateurs, and this year's lineup was packed with local legends. Former Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart brought his competitive edge to the course, but admitted the experience was a different kind of pressure. "Nerve-wracking. It's different than playing in front of hundreds and thousands of people," Stewart said with a laugh.

Hornets co-chairman Rick Schnall represented the Queen City's NBA team in style. Paired with golf icon Jordan Spieth, Schnall didn't just show up—he delivered. Carding six birdies, he earned a thumbs-up from Spieth himself, who later joked, "I'd be hard pressed to find somebody on his basketball team that could beat him, that's for sure." Schnall was equally thrilled: "He was amazing. He was so good. He said he wasn't on the first hole...we got it done."

The local star power didn't stop there. Former Myers Park standout and New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye also hit the links, alongside Charlotte FC manager Dean Smith. Smith's caddy? Club captain Ashley Westwood, who revealed a fun twist: "He's actually studied for his caddy license before. When he knew I was playing in this, he wanted to be the caddy. I think he's enjoying giving me a little bit of telling to, rather than me telling him."

Round one of the Truist Championship kicks off tomorrow, but with rain in the forecast, the PGA Tour has adjusted tee times. Groups of three will start at both the first and tenth holes beginning at 11 a.m.—so expect a later start, but no less excitement.
