DANVILLE — After rain ruined the start of the week, the Danville baseball team returned to action on Wednesday against Urbana at Danville Stadium. After a rain-soaked start to the week, the Danville baseball team finally got back on the diamond Wednesday at Danville Stadium—and they made the most of it with a doubleheader sweep over Urbana.

In Game 1, pitcher Alex McQuown was in total control, surrendering just four hits as the Vikings shut out the Tigers 4-0. Marvin Davis and Shaw Black each drove in a run, while Jaiven Wilson sparked the offense with two hits.

Game 2 was a nail-biter. Tied 6-6 in the seventh inning, Blake Warfield stepped up and delivered a clutch single to bring home the winning run, sealing a 7-6 victory. Wilson stayed hot with two hits and two RBIs, while Grady DeVors collected three hits. Davis, Brody Boyd, and Warfield each chipped in an RBI. Boyd earned the win in relief, and DeVors struck out seven as the starter.

The Vikings now sit at 6-13 and will look to build momentum when they face Peoria Notre Dame on Friday.

Elsewhere around the area, Westville needed extra innings but pulled out a 9th-inning thriller. Christian Giles delivered the game-winning RBI as the Tigers edged out the Bearcats. Matthew Darling had a monster day at the plate with three hits, including a home run and four RBIs. Ben Johnson added three hits and an RBI, while Giles chipped in two hits and an RBI, and Kiptyn Appl drove in a run. Westville improves to 12-11 and heads to Salt Fork on Friday.

Salt Fork made quick work of the Timberwolves, wrapping things up in just five innings with nine hits. Zayden Bromley drove in three runs, while Braxton Clem and Jacob Downing each had two RBIs. Brayden Norton, Pedro Rangel V, and Bodie Dahlenburg also contributed RBIs, and Eli Wear collected three hits. Clem was dominant on the mound, striking out nine and allowing only four hits as the Storm improved to 9-6.

Georgetown-Ridge Farm’s bats came alive on the road, racking up 12 hits in a win over Blue Ridge. Ryley Heck had two hits and three RBIs, while Peyton Miles crushed a home run as part of a two-hit, two-RBI performance. Dylan Lucas added three hits and an RBI, and Landon Heck also went deep with a two-hit, one-RBI effort.

It was a tough day for Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, as five errors proved costly in a 5-2 loss to Iroquois West on Tuesday. Drew Dubois drove in two runs, Dayton Dubois collected two hits, and Liam Parish struck out five over six innings.

Oakwood jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings and cruised to a 7-1 win over North Vermillion on Tuesday. Cam Harris was electric on the mound, fanning 11 batters. Xander Wilson led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Weston Frazier, Carsen Dudley, and Grady Johnson each drove in a run. For North Vermillion (2-9), Emmit Klugow and Randall Jeffers each had two hits.

Finally, Covington needed extra innings but came through with two runs in the eighth to beat Fountain Central 4-2 on Tuesday. Kyven Hill was dominant, striking out 13 batters on the mound.
