Day 2 of the 2026 CHSAA Track & Field State Championships brought high-energy competition and standout performances to Jeffco Stadium on May 14. Athletes from across Colorado pushed their limits in prelims and field events, setting the stage for an exciting finish.
In Class 5A girls' action, Pueblo West's Hayden Golden showcased her hurdling prowess, clearing the final barrier with precision in the 100m hurdles prelims. Teammate Coda Deulen led the pack in the boys' 4x800m relay, demonstrating strong early pace-setting skills, while Luke Ware anchored the same event with a powerful closing leg.
Pueblo East made noise in the Class 4A boys' 4x200m relay, with smooth baton exchanges between Leland Martinez and Jor-den Cunningham, followed by Dolphka Lewis handing off to Brendon Andrada. The Eagles' teamwork highlighted the importance of relay chemistry at the state level. In girls' hurdles, Reagan Falletta of Pueblo East also impressed, clearing the final hurdle in her 100m prelim.
Field events brought their own drama. Pueblo County's Page Forner and Maci Johnson both soared in the Class 4A girls' triple jump, each executing strong landings. In the shot put circle, Pueblo Central's Maliyah Sandoval and Maleah Minor unleashed powerful throws in the Class 4A competition, showing the depth of Pueblo's throwing tradition.
Swallows Charter Academy's Kailey Pearson added to the excitement in Class 2A, flying through the girls' long jump with a standout performance that caught the crowd's attention.
