Stanislav Lobotka was the engine room of Luciano Spalletti's Scudetto-winning Napoli side in 2023, and rumors are swirling that the coach wants to bring him to Juventus for a reunion. The Slovakia international was instrumental in pulling the midfield strings during that historic title run, and according to Calciomercato, Spalletti sees him as the key to taking Juve to the next level—especially if they secure Champions League football for next season.
However, pulling off this transfer would be no easy feat. Napoli and Juventus are bitter rivals, and they rarely do business on the transfer market. Lobotka has been with Napoli since 2020 on a contract that runs until June 2027, with an option for the club to extend by another year. Notably, that option only kicks in if he plays at least 50% of all official games in the 2026-27 season; otherwise, he'd be a free agent.
At 32 years old, Lobotka has seen his playing time dip this season due to a series of injuries, but he still managed 38 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist. There's a release clause in his contract worth €25 million, but it's only valid for clubs outside of Italy until mid-July—a safeguard put in place after Juventus poached Gonzalo Higuain years ago, which Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to avoid repeating.
Given that history, the chances of De Laurentiis agreeing to hand Lobotka over to Juve are very slim. Any potential deal would likely cost at least €30 million. Adding to the drama, Lobotka's agent previously hinted at issues with Antonio Conte's rigorous training methods, though he later brushed those off as a joke. For now, it seems Napoli will resist, leaving Juve's midfield plans up in the air.
