Celtic's summer signing Shin Yamada is facing another challenging chapter in his young career, this time on loan in Germany. The Japanese striker, who arrived at Parkhead from Kawasaki Frontale for £1.5 million, has found opportunities scarce at 2. Bundesliga side Preussen Münster.

Since his January loan move, Yamada has managed just one start and a handful of substitute appearances, totaling only 60 minutes of action. His situation has recently become even more difficult, as he has been omitted from the matchday squad for the club's last three fixtures.

Despite this lack of playing time, Preussen Münster's sporting director, Jan Uphues, has publicly backed the decision to bring Yamada in. Uphues cited a previous injury crisis as the reason for the initial move and expressed confidence that the 22-year-old will get his chance in the team's final five league matches. "Shin hasn’t had as many opportunities as he would have wanted recently," Uphues stated, "but I am certain he will get his chance."

Yamada's struggles in Germany mirror his difficult spell at Celtic, where he failed to score in 11 appearances, most of which came off the bench. His situation adds to the scrutiny of Celtic's recent recruitment, with Yamada being grouped alongside other signings who have yet to make a significant impact.

Unlike some January arrivals, however, Yamada remains a Celtic player on a permanent contract with three years remaining, meaning his development and future contributions are still very much on the club's radar. For now, both the player and the club will be hoping he can seize any late-season opportunity in Germany to build momentum.
