In a thrilling display of championship grit, Llandovery secured their third consecutive Super Rygbi Cymru title with a commanding 27-10 victory over Ebbw Vale at Eugene Cross Park. The Drovers, who had already claimed the crown in 2023 and 2024, wrote another golden chapter in their storied history by overpowering the Steelmen on their home turf.

The match was a tale of two halves. After a chaotic opening period that saw both sides reduced to 14 men at various points, the score stood at 10-10. Llandovery had early chances but couldn't capitalize, with fly-half Ioan Hughes uncharacteristically stepping on the dead-ball line when trying to ground the ball near the posts. Ebbw Vale struck first through hooker Corey Lewis, who powered over from an 11-man driving line-out. The Drovers hit back when centre Rhodri Jones crashed through the defense, but their struggles in the 22 and a faltering line-out kept the game tight.

The turning point came early in the second half when wing Harri Doel delivered a devastating double strike. First, he crossed down the right after Llandovery finally ground down the stubborn Ebbw defense, where Canada flanker Sion Parry had been a constant nuisance. Then, straight from the restart, Doel raced down the same flank after a superb break from livewire Scarlets full-back Jac Davies. Hughes added the conversion to make it 22-10.

Then came the moment that will be remembered for years. In his 402nd and final appearance for the club, scrum-half Lee Rees—a Drovers legend since 2008—signed off in style. Showing remarkable footballing skills with both feet, he pounced on a loose ball and went over for the clinching try, extending the lead to 27-10. The Steelmen, who had edged a thriller with Newport to reach the final, fought bravely until the end but couldn't close the gap.

For Ebbw Vale, it was another painful defeat on home soil, adding to their 2025 Grand Final loss to Gwent rivals Newport. But for Llandovery, this victory cements their status as the dominant force in Welsh club rugby, with a championship legacy that now spans three consecutive seasons.
